Background
Capital Chambers takes pride in being a nurturing ground for aspiring legal minds and our mini-pupillage scheme is designed to offer students, through mentorship and exposure to real world legal scenarios, the dynamics of what life is like as a barrister. Those accepted for mini-pupillages will typically spend two weeks in chambers (subject to barristers’ schedules) either in the summer (June to August) or the winter (December to February).
It is also important to note that we only select our pupils who have participated in our mini-pupillage scheme.
Applications
Applications for mini-pupillage are considered two times a year as follows:
- For Summer, applications should be submitted no later than 1st May
- For Winter, applications should be submitted no later than 1st November
To submit an application, please email your cover letter which is expected to also identify your availability, curriculum vitae and latest available transcript (in PDF format) to mikoyu@capitalchambers.hk.
All applications will be reviewed after the indicated deadline and shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview if necessary.
Background
Capital Chambers only offers pupillage to candidates who demonstrate that they have the ability and skills to become a prospective tenant in chambers. Applicants should therefore be highly-motivated individuals who have a strong academic degree in law and are committed to practice as a barrister. It is also important to note that we only select our pupils who have participated in our mini-pupillage scheme.
Applications
Applications are welcomed up to two years in advance of the intended pupillage start year. However, to streamline the application process, all pupillage applications will only be centrally processed once a year, with a deadline of April 30th for submission.
Applicants should write to admin@capitalchambers.hk along with your cover letter, curriculum vitae and latest available transcript (in PDF format). Reference letters (if any) will also be taken into consideration.
Scholarships
Starting September 2025, a pupillage award of HK$55,000 will be granted to a chosen candidate to subsidise his or her pupillage at Capital Chambers. The selection process is primarily based on merit but also with due consideration to one’s financial status.
